Welcome to the rescue journal home page. Here you will find the anonymous writing journal of an Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter living in New York State. So much of the fire service and specifically, EMS, has been shrouded in secrecy. And for good reason too. So therefore to protect identity, confidentiality, and privacy, locations and names have been omitted from the journal entries to comply with these regulations. Additionally, the name of the author, the agencies for which the author works for, and any other identifiable information will not be included within this web page. In this way it is possible to bring you the whole unbiased story exactly as it happened.
You may be wondering why a page such as this one actually exists. The truth of the matter is that after September 11th, 2001, the world as we know it changed forever by the terrorist attacks on the United States. Much of what the general public knows about fire rescue and EMS comes from television shows and the media. While this portrayal may be somewhat accurate, it does not compare with actual reality as it is told by the emergency responders that were at the scene. The fact is that the fire service was forever changed after the attacks and will never be the same ever again.
The reason for publishing the writing log to the Internet is also a preservation issue. By having this writing journal online, many people can read it, print it out, and keep it. Additionally, it may be archived in various locations and saved permanently to a database. In this way, the words and experiences will be kept for a much longer time opposed to the very short life of plain paper.
Please be warned that many of the pages of this web site may not be suitable for children or sensitive readers. All of the pages here are actual transcriptions of actual events as they have been written in the journal book. Absolutely nothing is omitted or censored, with the mere exception of exact times, dates, locations, and names of persons involved. Therefore, please be warned that many of these pages contain adult language, adult situations, and some medical and/or sexual content.
Finally, this website is under a perpetual state of construction as more content is added on a regular basis. Also, due to the ever-growing amount of available content, if you are looking for something specific, you might try using a search.
The only thing that is not allowed at any time is copying any of the contents to your own web page, distributing them by any means, or claiming that the log is your own work. Such actions may result in immediate legal action.
I'll add more entries into this site on a regular basis, so you should check back often. And be sure to tell your friends about this page too.
